How Our Team’s Training Elevates the Costa Rican Trails Experience

At Costa Rican Trails, our commitment to delivering exceptional, luxury travel experiences doesn’t pause during the low-season.

Instead, it’s a time for our team to invest in professional development, ensuring that our guests receive the highest level of service and insight.

From nature experiences to cultural explorations, we have been busy fine-tuning our skills across various areas. These efforts allow us to improve the quality of our experiences offered.

Here’s a look at some of what we’ve been up to:

Mastering Birdwatching Across Costa Rica’s Diverse Ecosystems

Costa Rica is a paradise for bird enthusiasts, and our guides have deepened their expertise through training in birdwatching. From the rainforests to the dry forests and cloud forests, our team has learned to identify bird species by their songs, physical characteristics, and preferred habitats.

Our guides now offer sharper insights and better tools to help guests capture the best bird photography moments. This knowledge elevates the experience for both casual nature lovers and seasoned birdwatchers.

Revitalizing the San José City and Museum Tours

Costa Rica’s capital city, San José is rich with history, art, and tradition. Our team spent time refreshing their knowledge of the city’s landmarks, including guided tours through the renowned museums: the Jade Museum, the Gold Museum, the National Museum, and the iconic National Theater.

Understanding these institutions’ unique aspects helps our guides provide a deeper, more engaging cultural experience for your guests, turning each experience into a journey through Costa Rican history.

Exploring the Heritage of Cartago and the Irazu Volcano

Cartago’s history, with the majesty of the Irazu Volcano, offers an enriching day trip for visitors. Our guides underwent inspections and training to enhance these tours, focusing on the city’s famous landmarks like the Ruins of Cartago and the Basilica de los Ángeles.

By incorporating agricultural insights along the route to Irazu, our team can now offer an experience that combines culture, history, and nature.

Enhancing Coffee Tours with Local Insights

Costa Rica’s coffee is world-renowned, and our team has fine-tuned their knowledge of the entire coffee production process. By conducting inspections at various coffee plantations, they learned the best seasons and times to offer guests the most immersive experience.

This includes Quetzal-watching along forested coffee routes, adding a unique twist to a classic Costa Rican tour. Understanding the intricate relationship between coffee production and the surrounding ecosystem allows our guides to offer richer narratives during these visits.

“It is very important to keep learning and refreshing all the information that we give to our clients to ensure they are happy and comfortable.”

— Paulo Dorati, Costa Rican Trails Naturalist Guide.

Strengthening Sustainability Efforts: Recycling Campaigns

Sustainability is a cornerstone of luxury travel today, and Costa Rican Trails is committed to being an eco-conscious operator. This year, we ran extensive training on waste management and recycling for our staff, ensuring that every team member is equipped to promote environmental awareness to our guests.

Safety First: Emergency Training for Our Team

A key part of training focused on emergency preparedness. Our team has received specialized training in fire response and first aid, including CPR and basic life support techniques. This training ensures that all our guides and staff can handle emergencies swiftly and efficiently, ensuring that guests feel safe and cared for throughout their journey.

Fam Trips: Experiencing Destinations Firsthand

To offer the most authentic and personalized travel advice, our guides participated in Fam Trips across Costa Rica. These trips allowed our team to experience our destinations just as our guests would.

From the lush Osa Peninsula to the cloud forests of San Gerardo de Dota, our guides explored the best lodges, activities, and local secrets to enhance our recommended itineraries.

Destinations visited include Nosara, Manuel Antonio, Uvita, and the Tortuguero wildlife haven, each offering travellers unique experiences.

Giving Back: Community Cleanups

At Costa Rican Trails, we believe in giving back to the communities that welcome our guests. This season, our team took part in community cleanups in both San José and Playa Bonita.

These efforts improved the environment and also fostered a sense of shared responsibility. By contributing to cleaner streets and beaches, we hope to leave a lasting positive impact on the places our guests visit.

A Commitment to Excellence All Year Round

Through these professional development activities, our team remains dedicated to delivering the best possible travel experiences.

For luxury travel designers, this means having confidence that our guides and staff are not only knowledgeable but also prepared to offer enriched, sustainable, and safe experiences for your clients.

This season is our opportunity to evolve, ensuring that when guests arrive, they experience the very best Costa Rica has to offer.
